Javy Báez, Willson Contreras Named Starters for 2019 All-Star Game

For the second straight season, the tandem of El Mago and Willson Contreras will take the field as starters for the National League in the All-Star Game. The only difference this time around, however, is that Javy gets the nod at shortstop instead of second base. None of the other Cubs that made it to the “Starters Election” round of voting (Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Albert Almora Jr., Jason Heyward, and Kyle Schwarber) received enough votes to earn starting honors.

The 2019 All-Star game will be live from Cleveland on Tuesday, July 9. Now we’ll wait and see which Cubs end up on the reserves list to join Javy and Willson.
