Postgame Wrap: Cubs v Indians; Jake Looking Like Jake
I know I sound like a broken record but seriously, it was an amazing day and I love spring training! This is the one time of year that you can come out to the ballpark and simply enjoy without worrying about a win or loss. I love the smell of hot dogs and beer, the sight of kids getting their first baseball tossed to them, the camaraderie of the fans around you…it’s all there. And this year, as a Cubs fan, there’s no big worries, we know pretty much know what the roster looks like and it looks good. We are blessed, my friends.
It was great to see Jake Arrieta pitch today. He looked like the stud he is, going two innings, striking out four with no hits, including no balls hit out of the infield. There’s a big difference seeing a guy like Jake pitch when you’re so used to watching the (mostly) back end guys pitch. It really reinforces how truly incredible Jake is as a starting pitcher.
The Cubs ended up dropping the game by the score of 3-5. It was 1-5 until a ninth inning, two-run home run from John Andreoli, who played 106 games at AAA Iowa in 2015 batting .277/.372/.401.
The coolest highlight by far was when Addison Russell showed his ninja-like skills to avoid a ball hit by third baseman, Jeimer Candelario:
Unfortunately, not many more Cubs highlights from todays game against the Indians. Oh, did I mention that Jake Arrieta is a stud?! See you tomorrow!
