Postgame Wrap: Cubs v White Sox; Hendricks Solid

The Cubs took on the White Sox today on a dry, hot afternoon in Glendale, Arizona at Camelback Ranch Stadium. The temps were hovering right around 90 degrees during the game….oh, but it’s a dry heat. I honestly have no idea why they say that because it’s really just hot.

Today’s game was a low-scoring affair, particularly for a spring training match-up. It was quite the opposite of the offensive explosion the Cubs produced last night as they trashed the Dbacks. The Cubs fell short today by the score of 3-2. Here’s the box score.

Kyle Hendricks again looked very solid in his outing today pitching five innings, giving up two hits, one run and striking out three batters. Kyle continues to show excellent control this spring and you can slot him in as the number five pitcher in the Cubs starting rotation this year. If he can continue to evolve, as he has this spring, he could be one of the best number five pitchers in the league.

The Cubs had one solitary hit, a double in the top of the fourth inning by Jeimer Candelario, who coincedentally was reassigned to minor league camp earlier today. Despite only getting one hit in the game they managed to score two runs, both coming in the top of the eighth inning due to two throwing errors and a wild pitch.

The Cubs will face off tomorrow night against the Indians in at 9:05 CDT at Goodyear Ballpark.
