Cubs Fans in Central Indiana Will Get WGN Games Again in 2016

There wasn’t quite as much fanfare as last season, but WISH-TV in Indianapolis will once again carry a good number of the Cubs and White Sox games being broadcast on WGN.

“On the heels of an exciting first year welcoming the Chicago Cubs and White Sox to WISH-TV, we’re thrilled to announce they’ll back in 2016,” WISH-TV President and General Manager Les Vann said. “Fans all across central Indiana, as well as our advertisers can look forward to an expanded broadcast schedule next season, which includes 100 games.”

The full slate (shown below) includes 45 Cubs and 55 White Sox games, including the former’s home opener on April 11. I had actually been more concerned with the contest on Sunday, 4/10, since that’s the date of Cubs Insider’s watch party at Scotty’s Brewhouse on 96th St. in Indianapolis. It would’ve been somewhat of a buzzkill to gather around a computer equipped with MLB.TV and Unlocator.

If you find yourself anywhere near the Indy area that day, stop by for a beer and some great food. I’ll also be giving away some Cubs Insider swag, along with items from all five of the Cubs minor-league affiliates (including a voucher for 4 free tickets to a South Bend Cubs game).

And for those of you outside WISH-TV’s broadcast radius, check your local providers. I have not checked back with all of them from last year, but I’m sure many — if not all — have re-upped their syndication deal.
