Postgame Wrap: Angels 6, Cubs 4; Bring on Opening Day! (Video)

Tomorrow is the day we’ve been waiting for…I feel like a kid on Christmas eve! Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!

The Cubs did what we hoped they would do this spring, they finished healthy and ready to hit the ground running. The bats are in tune, the arms are stretched and ready to go, and everyone knows their roll on the team. That’s what spring training is for and, while it seems like a simple concept, it’s easy to screw up. Mission accomplished.

The Cubs lost 6-4 to the Angels today (Box Score here). Here are a few highlights worth noting.

  • Albert Almora continues to flash the glove, this time in right field. I’m confident we’ll be seeing Albert on the big league club at some point this season, his defense is just too good to keep down in the minors. Here’s video of his great catch:

  • Kyle Hendricks went five innings today throwing 66 pitches (47 strikes), allowing 2 runs (one earned) on five hits and seven strikeouts. Kyle had a nice spring and it’ll be exciting to watch him develop this year. He has a lot of potential.

Things get real tomorrow, my friends. The Cubs open the 2016 season at Anaheim against the Angels. Jake Arrieta will match up against Garrett Richards at 9:05 CDT. It’s gonna be a late night…I can’t wait!
