Cubs Clips: Video of Schwarber Awesomeness, Including His 1st HR as a Cub
I woke up this morning still a little bummed about yesterday. I mulled it around a bit and finally decided that pulling together a little video tribute to Kyle would be pretty cool.
And so, I’ve gone and put together an excellent assortment of Kyle Schwarber awesomeness starting with the day he got drafted by the Cubs in 2014. Enjoy!
Here’s a clip of Kyle getting picked by the Cubs with the number four overall pick in 2014:

In Kyle’s first full game in the majors he gives us a peek at things to come with a four hit outing in the Cubs’ 17-0 win over the Indians. Kyle ended up going 4 for 5 with three runs and two RBIs, including a triple:
In Kyle’s second full game as a major-league player he hit his first home run, officially cementing himself in the hearts of Cubs fans everywhere. He finished the game going 2 for 4 with two runs, two RBIs, one walk, and this wonderful opposite field bomb:
Kyle shows up in October and claims the title of Cubs’ postseason home run king with five home runs, including his majestic bomb against the Cardinals that landed on top of the video board in right field. What an amazing postseason:
During the 2015 postseason Kyle did some incredible things:
- Hit more postseason home runs than any player in the history of the Chicago Cubs.
- Set a record for postseason home runs before his 23rd birthday beating out the likes of Miguel Cabrera, Bryce Harper, Andruw Jones and Mickey Mantle, who each hit four.
- According to ESPN Stats & Info, Schwarber’s home run off deGrom – the pitch was 10.5 inches off the plate – was the furthest outside a lefty had hit a home run in 2015.
Bottom line – Kyle’s an incredible guy, an amazing professional baseball player, a great Cub, and someone who we all love and appreciate tremendously. Kyle, we wish you all the best on your road to recovery and thank you for all you’ve given to Cubs’ fans so far in your career. We can’t wait to see you in action again!
