Warren G Regulates the Stretch (Video)

Regulators! Mount up!

If there was a Mount Rushmore of really crappy 7th inning stretch singers, Warren G just had his face etched in stone next to the likenesses of Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Gordon, and Mike Ditka. I don’t know why on God’s green earth the Cubs saw fit to invite the rapper to sing, but it was quickly evident that they’d made a poor choice.

The video of his performance is below and I invite you to watch it at your own peril.

I don’t think that’s what Nate Dogg meant by “funked out with a gangster twist,” but it was certainly funk on a whole new level. In fact, I’m reasonably sure the late crooner could have done a better job with Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep repeating it until it happens: if it’s not a Cubs legend or someone with strong emotional ties to the team, just put Harry up on the video board and call it a day.
