Cubs Remove Neil Ramirez From Bereavement List, Send Spencer Patton to Iowa

Spencer Patton’s stay on the Cubs was short lived. Neil Ramirez will return to the Cubs today and be available to pitch if needed. The Cubs used 6 of 8 relievers from their bullpen yesterday and Joe mentioned in a postgame interview that he’d like to sit Hector Rondon and Pedro Strop today if possible. Rondon has pitched in four straight games for the Cubs.

Spencer Patton got a chance to pitch in yesterday’s game, which was his only playing time since being recalled from AAA Iowa. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well. He came on in the sixth inning and walked the first batter he faced, who then stole second base and was driven it by a Stephen Drew double. That was it for Patton.

So things didn’t go the way Spencer would have hoped but he’s still a solid reliever that we could see in Chicago again before the end of the season. His ERA this year at the I-Cubs is 0.00 in ten innings pitched with 17 strikeouts.
