Chicago Cubs Lineup: Jake Turning up Beast Mode Against the Mets

Jake Arrieta (12-2, 2.10 ERA) is set to make the start tonight for the Chicago Cubs (51-28) in hopes of stopping the team’s slide against the New York Mets (42-37). They’ve lost six straight games to New York now going back to the 2015 NLCS. And while the Cubs may have the best record in the majors – leaving very little to be overly concerned about – it sure would be nice to be able to win the next two in New York.

The Cubs are currently in a stretch that includes 24 straight games with no off-days as they lead up to the all-star game. That’s a brutal way to go into the break, not to mention that it appears that a lot of Cubs will be heading to the all-star game. That’s normally a good thing but for the Cubs in 2016 I’d prefer to see the guys getting some rest during the all-star break. Oh well, these are first class problems I suppose.

For the lineup tonight, Willson Contreras slots back into left field with Kris Bryant heading back to third base. Chris Coghlan is in right field and Jason Heyward will be in center field tonight.
