Online Registration for Opportunity to Purchase Cubs Single Game Postseason Tickets is Open

Want a shot at Cubs playoff tickets but don’t have season tickets or friends in high places? Well, you’re in luck. Sort of. The Cubs have opened up online registration for a drawing to be selected to purchase tickets to potential Wild Card or Division Series games at Wrigley. I’ve emphasized some important sections in the press release below for those of you who are interested, but I want to draw particular attention to the latter section.

Registered fans who aren’t selected for the NLDS games — let’s be honest, the Wild Card isn’t going to matter — will still be eligible for the NLCS, should the Cubs make it that far. That’s actually a pretty good deal, when you think about it. If I remember correctly, you’d have to register separately for each round in the past. And keep in mind that it’s a one-shot deal and availability will be really limited, so if you get selected you’d better buy your tickets immediately.

The Chicago Cubs have announced details for fans seeking the opportunity to purchase single game tickets to potential postseason games at Wrigley Field. Beginning today at 9 a.m. until September 21 at noon, fans can register for a random drawing to win a chance to purchase single game postseason tickets for a potential Wild Card Game and National League Division Series.* Registration will remain open throughout the postseason at www.cubs.com/postseason, with cut-off times for drawings to additional potential series to be announced as the postseason unfolds.

Fans who register for the online ticket opportunity will be notified via email if they have been selected for a chance to purchase before single game tickets go on sale. Those who are randomly selected from all eligible registrants will have a one-time chance to purchase a maximum of four tickets to a potential Wild Card Game or Division Series Game at Wrigley Field, pending availability. Tickets will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. Being selected in a drawing does not guarantee the opportunity to purchase tickets to a postseason game.

“With so much excitement surrounding this year’s team, demand will certainly exceed the limited number of tickets we have available for postseason play at Wrigley Field,” said Cubs Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Colin Faulkner. “Like last year, we once again wanted to provide a fair process to give access to these tickets. Nearly 1.2 million people registered for the purchase opportunity last year, so we encourage fans to register early and purchase quickly if their name is selected.”

The number of potential postseason tickets that may become available to Cubs fans is limited as a result of ticket allocations to Cubs Season Ticket Holders and other partners. To provide a purchase opportunity to as many fans as possible, all registered fans who are not selected for early postseason contests will remain eligible for selection if the Cubs advance to subsequent rounds. Fans may only purchase tickets once during the postseason.

The postseason single game ticket on-sale date and pricing will be announced following the September 21 registration deadline for Wild Card Game and National League Division Series tickets. Single game ticket buyers are encouraged to pay with MasterCard, the preferred credit card of the Chicago Cubs. Fans may visit www.cubs.com/postseason for more information about potential single game postseason ticket sales or call the Chicago Cubs Fan Services team at 773-388-8270 with any questions.
