Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. Cardinals: Lester Pitching in Cubs’ Final Regular Season Home Game

Today marks the final regular season home game for the Chicago Cubs (98-56) as they line up against the St. Louis Cardinals (81-73) in the rubber match of the three-game series. Jon Lester (18-4, 2.36 ERA) will be on the mound tonight for the Cubs as they play on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball in what will certainly be a somber evening with the tragic passing of José Fernádez.

Tonight’s lineup is more of the same from Joe Maddon as he sticks with the regulars with the Cubs making the final push towards the postseason.

Kris Bryant is in left field tonight and Javy Baez will be at third base for the Cubs. I won’t be surprised if this is the Cubs starting lineup come playoff time. At this point, Bryant is the best defensive left fielder on the Cubs and his backup at third base, Javier Baez, is a better defensive third baseman than Bryant. It’s also nice having Javier’s bat in the order.

Here’s tonight’s Chicago Cubs lineup.
