Chicago Cubs Lineup: War Bear Leads Off, Candy at First

There’s not much tread left on Spring Training’s tires, but the Cubs will still try to get the most out of a trip to Goodyear to face the Reds in a rare night game. Kyle Schwarber is once again leading off and Kris Bryant is in his familiar spot right behind.

It gets a little unconventional after that, with Ben Zobrist and…oh, just take a look:

Could be nothing, but seeing Szczur in there at DH could be telling. Or maybe that’s just the recency bias of the report that pegged him as a Braves trade target. Then again, that same report said the Cubs were expected to hold onto the backup outfielder. So I guess this could be either a tune-up or a showcase.

Or maybe it’s both. Or neither.

Minor league righty Ryan Williams will be on the mound for the Cubs, in case you were wondering. Game time is 8:05 CT, or 5 minutes after first pitch of the WBC championship between the US and Puerto Rico.
