WWJD – ‘What Will Javy Do’ For an Encore in Tonight’s WBC Final (NSFW Video Compilation)

The World Baseball Classic has been as exciting this year as any that I can recall. A lot of that can be directly attributed to the bravado and panache of the Chicago Cubs’ own Ednel Javier Baez.

Javy’s rise to stardom and popularity is fueled by his passion for the game. That passion shows in every tag he makes, every base he steals, and every laser beam throw he uncorks. So if tonight’s championship matchup of the US and Puerto Rico feels more like “Javy takes on the world,” isn’t it pretty apparent why.

Indeed, we enter the final game tonight wondering to ourselves, “What will Javy do?” No one knows the answer to that question but it sure is going to be fun to watch. In the meantime,  let’s take a look at a few extraordinary plays he’s made throughout Puerto Rico’s run to the WBC champioship in an effort to mentally prepare ourselves for what we may be in for.

Where else should we start but with that beautiful no-look tag:

Next up, a Statcast breakdown of two of Javier’s three stolen bases against the US:

Here’s Javy robbing Eric Hosmer with a fantastic sliding stop at second base:

More, you say? Well check out Javy making this incredible relay throw home to barely cut down Jonathan Schoop at the plate:

And last but not least, the crème de la crème of them all perhaps, Javy does his best Michael Phelps imitation as he slides in to steal third base:
