CI Recap (3/10/18) – Cubs 4, White Sox 4: Professor Lectures, Former Cub Jimenez Homers
Kyle Hendricks had the fastball sitting 87-88 and was pulling the string on the change, which was good. But Lucas Giolito was also mixing speeds and locating well, which was bad.
Kyle Schwarber absolutely obliterated a double into the oppo gap, Victor Caratini put the Cubs on the board with a solo shot, and Cael Brockmeyer — who is freakishly tall for a catcher — blasted a homer to tie the game. Yes, I know that’s out of order. I also know that highlighting a double is weird.
Why the Cubs Tied
Well, they scored as many runs as the Sox. It was really a pretty uneventful game, but the teams traded late homers and the Cubs rode a solo shot to a tie.

Stats That (Don’t) Matter
- Kyle Hendricks struck out 7
- Kris Bryant struck out twice, but one of those probably should have been a walk
- Kyle Schwarber continues to look really good at the plate
- Jason Heyward was 0-for-3 with two K’s and looked not good at the plate
Bottom Line
It was cool to see Jimenez hit a homer, even if it was for the Sox and against the Cubs.

By the time you read this, the Cubs may have already played their second game of the day. Saturday was a split-squad affair, with an 8:05pm start against the Dodgers.
