UPDATE (No Concussion): Kris Bryant Hit in Head, Removed from Game, Leads to Hitting Coaches Ejections

Kris Bryant was hit in the head by a 96 MPH fastball during Sunday afternoon’s game against the Rockies and was immediately removed from the ballgame. The scary moment came on a two-strike count with the catcher setting up high. It was Bryant’s seventh hit by pitch this season.

KB’s helmet spun around and glasses flew off when the ball struck his head. Joe Maddon immediately assisted Bryant, and the third baseman put his arm around the Cubs manager in clear disorientation.

Chili Davis and Andy Haines, the men in charge of Cubs hitting instruction, were ejected about five minutes after Bryant was hit. Haines appeared to fling a cup of coffee or dip in the direction of the umpires. Davis was jawing with the umpires from the dugout.

Update: Kris Bryant thankfully has no concussion.

Bryant was examined and passed all tests. Small laceration above his eye from his sunglasses. No concussion symptoms.
