Watch: Anthony Rizzo aka the Greatest Relief Pitcher of All Time
Most of Monday night’s game at the Friendly Confines stunk…that is until the top of the ninth inning. With two outs, and Victor Caratini already pitching for the Cubs, Joe Maddon finally relented on something Anthony Rizzo had been pestering him about. He finally let Rizzo pitch.
That’s right. In addition to being the greatest leadoff hitter of all time, Anthony Rizzo is now the greatest relief pitcher of all time. He got AJ Pollock to fly out to center, thus leaving him with a career 0.00 ERA.
Tonight was worth it for the look of pure joy on Rizzo’s face when Joe made call.
Greatest Leadoff Hitter of All Time is now the Greatest Reliever of All Time. Can't argue with a 0.00 ERA. pic.twitter.com/q4Qku7hQz6

.@ARizzo44 warming up…he did jokingly tell me he would quit if he didn’t get to pitch. So, I’m glad we don’t have to worry about that. pic.twitter.com/CQweGDSKb4
