Watch: Darvish Talks Throwing with Blister, Jokes About Peeing on It

Yu Darvish exited his last start early with a big blister on his right ring finger, but as you can see from the IG post below, it’s heading up quite nicely. That’s the result of cream and laser treatment, not by taking teammates’ advice and peeing on it.

Darvish threw a successful bullpen session Friday and is on schedule to pitch in a minor league game Sunday, though he’ll be wearing a band-aid to protect the finger when he does so. That was case Friday as well, though Darvish had to stop about 15 pitches in to swap out the bandage. He said the oil they’d applied underneath felt weird, so he cleaned that off and continued.

All things considered, this is the best the Cubs could have hoped for. The blister appears to be almost fully healed and the righty will barely miss a beat.

“Yeah,” he answered when asked if he was surprised by how quickly it’s healed. “I put the pee on it. That’s why. [pause for effect] No, no, no, no.”
