Watch: Javy Báez Triples to Continue Cubs Rally
The Cubs hadn’t been able to get much going against Walker Lockett through the first two innings, but all it took was a little kick start from some unlikely sources. Down 3-0 at the start of the 3rd, Carlos Gonzalez punched a single to right and advanced to second on a Tyler Chatwood sac bunt. Then Daniel Descalso notched his second base hit of the month to score CarGo and the Cubs were off.
Kyle Schwarber walked and Kris Bryant blooped an RBI single to right, after which Anthony Rizzo doubled to plate two runners. That’s when Javy Báez smashed a ball to center and then busted it to third like his hair was on fire. He would later come home on a wild pitch to put the Cubs up 6-3.
