Watch: David Bote Opens Scoring with 2-Run Blast

The Cubs were hitless through five innings against noted Cub-killer Gio González, but that ended when Albert Almora doinked an infield single to lead off the 6th. That brought up David Bote, who hadn’t homered since June 19, a span of 71 plate appearances. It looked as though that streak might be extended as Bote was destroyed by high heat, but then he got a middle-middle cookie to put the Cubs ahead.
