Cubs Introduce Interactive Documentary Titled ‘1969 Cubs’ to Celebrate Team’s 50th Anniversary
The Cubs announced Tuesday the release of a really cool interactive web documentary to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved ’69 team. Simply titled “1969 Cubs,” the project is the first installment of a new series from the Cubs called “Timeless” that will highlight various stories from the club’s history.
Through historical articles, archived footage and captivating documentary-style videos that include never-before-seen interviews with beloved Hall of Famers Ernie Banks and Ron Santo, “1969 Cubs” delivers a truly immersive storytelling experience, conveyed through hand-drawn mobile animations, for fans of the team and U.S. history.
In keeping with the other multimedia projects the Cubs have produced over the last couple years or so, this is really well done and worth your time. You’ll want to make sure you’re not at work, though, or that you’ve at least got your headphones in. And it might be best on a tablet or desktop, since it even my iPhone X wasn’t the ideal viewing medium.
