Derek Holland Activated from IL, Cubs Roster Balloons to 35

Break out the tulips and wooden clogs! It’s not going to get much fanfare in the wake of Ben Zobrist batting leadoff and Willson Contreras returning to the lineup, but Derek Holland has been activated from the injured list and is once again available out of the bullpen.

This move puts the Cubs’ roster at 35, so they’ve still got room to add five more players should they feel the need. David Bote is a pretty obvious choice to make it 36 here in a few days, so that ought to give them more than enough warm bodies to carry them through the remainder of September.

Now if only we can get Joe Maddon to stop tilting at windmills by using Holland against righties.
