Kyle Schwarber Avoids Arbitration with $7.01M Agreement
Kyle Schwarber avoided arbitration Friday by agreeing to a $7,010,00 salary that was almost $1 million below the projections. That’s actually a little more than I’d estimated recently, but it makes sense that Schwarber came in a little lower than expected. His production, while valuable and much improved over the course of the season, doesn’t really hold up against the rigors of the arb process.
Cubs settle with Kyle Schwarber. $7 mil + $10,000 for 2020.

There’s no explanation yet as to the little $10K addendum, and perhaps there isn’t one to be given, but it’s interesting to at least one person. If Schwarber can maintain anything even close to his second half from last season — he was a more productive hitter than Nicholas Castellanos — this salary will be a tremendous bargain.
