MLB Expected to Suspend All Operations as of Thursday (Update: It’s Official)
In a move that felt inevitable in the wake of similar decisions by several other leagues, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend all operations as of Thursday afternoon. Jeff Passan first reported on ESPN that the decision to cancel spring training games and delay of the regular season is “a formality.”
After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.

From Joel Sherman, a conference call between Rob Manfred and team owners is scheduled soon with an announcement coming shortly thereafter. Games in Florida are currently underway.
