Chicago Cubs Lineup: Yu Darvish and Kyle Hendricks Face Off in Cubs’ First Intrasquad Game
The Chicago Cubs are playing their first intrasquad matchup today at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks leads the home whites, while Yu Darvish pitches for the road blues. Not captioned below is that Willson Contreras is catching for Hendricks.
You don’t want to read too much into lineups from the first scrimmage, but there are some interesting tidbits here.
Jason Kipnis and Nico Hoerner are playing second base, which may indicate David Ross‘ inclination to play Hoerner as the starter. Or not. It’s also possible we see Bote logging time at second during the season, but today he’s playing third, which also makes sense.
Expect to see plenty of playing time for the speedster, Ian Miller, who’s playing in right for the home whites. We spoke with Miller on The Rant back in early May when he discussed his ability to get in guy’s heads and be a little gnat on base.
We’ll give a recap of the game, or at least a few notes, later today.
