Chicago Cubs Lineup (7/20/20) – Bryant 1B, Schwarber DH, Darvish Starts Against White Sox

The Cubs jumped out in front of the White Sox last night before a barrage of extra-base hits did them in, so perhaps they can return the favor when they travel south to run it back. Having all their starters would help, but that’s just not possible right out. Anthony Rizzo is out again as he continues to rehab his back, which should be good enough by Wednesday to allow him to play against the Twins.

Kris Bryant is starting in his place at first, followed by David Bote at third base and Javy Báez at short. Kyle Schwarber is the DH, Steven Souza Jr. is in left, Jason Heyward is in right, and Albert Almora Jr. is in center. Nico Hoerner is at second base once again and Victor Caratini is behind the dish.

Yu Darvish will take the bump for the Cubs as he makes his final exhibition start in preparation for this coming Saturday against Milwaukee. Darvish hasn’t looked as sharp during Summer Camp for whatever reason, though his velocity is up there and his stuff isn’t lacking. As with any other pitcher, it’s a matter of getting stretched out and building stamina.

The Cubs are facing Dallas Keuchel, one of the veterans the Sox brought over to bolster a very young and talented roster. Though he’s no longer a Cy Young contender, the bearded lefty still induces tons of grounders with a repertoire led by a bowling ball sinker. Because he keeps the ball down, the Cubs would be wise to string base hits together and maybe even get aggressive on the bases.

First pitch from G-Rate is set for 7:10pm CT on Marquee, NBC Sports Chicago, WGN Radio, and 670 The Score. If you have Comcast, you can eliminate the first option above and if you have DISH Network you can eliminate both regional sports networks. Only a few days left for Marquee make something happen.
