Kyle Schwarber Tweets ‘Thank You’ Note to Cubs Fans

When the news dropped on Wednesday that the Cubs were going to non-tender Kyle Schwarber, it didn’t come as a complete shock. We all knew there were going to be tough decisions made this offseason, which was part of the reason Theo Epstein stepped down a year before his contract expired.

Even so, it still felt like a gut-punch.

Schwarber tweeted out a thank-you to Cubs fans Thursday afternoon, which, of course he did. I often sat in the left-field bleachers, including several games with my young sons. Schwarber always waved to everyone emphatically and made sure the boys got a ball. The guy was a class act, and he’ll be missed.

We’ll be talking about this later today at 1:30pm Central on The Rant Live when we share our favorite Schwarber-related memories, so be sure to tune in via Cubs Insider Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter. If you don’t catch our live show, you can check out the podcast version via the link below.
