Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (3/11/21): Cubs 8, Rockies 6 – Joc Jams Two More in Win
The Cubs broke out the power bats Thursday afternoon against the Rockies at Salt River Fields. Joc Pederson had another huge day at the dish with a pair of homers as Chicago’s offense was able to overcome an off day from ace Kyle Hendricks to earn a win. (Box score)
Why the Cubs Won
They jumped on Dereck Rodriguez for an early lead they were able to pad later.
Key Moment
Javier Báez crushed a long two-run homer off of Chad Smith in the 6th inning to give the Cubs a 7-4 lead.
Stats That Matter
- Not worried about Hendricks but here are the bad numbers: 3 IP, 4 R, 7 H, 5 K, and 1 BB.
- Pederson had a single as well as his two bombs; his line drive missile of a second homer was very impressive.
- Kris Bryant doubled home a pair of runs in the 1st inning.
Bottom Line
Pederson is looking very good in the middle of the Cubs order right now. On paper, Chicago has the makings of a very formidable lineup.
On Deck
The Brewers head to Sloan Park Friday for a 2:05pm CT game that will air on Marquee Sports Network with Pat Hughes on the call.
