The Cubs are down to the final 48 hours of their time in Arizona and they battled the Rangers in Surprise on Sunday. This one featured some big swings in the score and at the plate, where Joc Pederson continues to be the story of the Cactus League. (Box score)

Pederson blasted his Cactus League-leading eighth homer of the spring in the 4th inning.

Stats That Matter

  • Jake Arrieta struggled in the 2nd inning and came out of the game before returning for the 3rd: 2.2 IP, 4 R, 5 H, 4 K, and 1 BB. Let’s hope he got it out of his system.
  • Dillon Maples celebrated making the roster by striking out the side in the 7th.
