Rowan Wick Expected to Pitch for South Bend in Rehab Outing Saturday Night

Righty reliever Rowan Wick hasn’t pitched since September 16, 2020 due to an oblique injury that has taken its sweet time to heal. After some setbacks this spring that forced him to miss the entire first half of the season, Wick is finally returning to the mound. Maybe he was motivated by seeing Jordan Wicks grab a little spotlight in the wake of signing with the Cubs as their top draft pick.

The 28-year-old Wick has joined the South Bend Cubs for a rehab assignment and is expected to throw Saturday night against the  Cedar Rapids Kernels. He’ll likely need several appearances before he’s ready to return to the big league roster, by which point trades should clear a spot or three for him.

Tonight’s game starts at 7:05pm ET, so you should have plenty of time to tune in via MiLB.tv following the Cubs game in Arizona.
