Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/3/21): Davies on Hill, Ortega Leading Off, Schwindel Debuts
The Chicago Cubs (51-56) take on the Colorado Rockies (46-60) tonight at Coors Field in the first game of a three-game series (you can check out the series preview here). As bad as the Cubs have played recently, they’re still only five games under .500. Of course, that could take a dramatic turn for the worse when the White Sox and Brewers come to Wrigley starting on Friday, but we can always hope.
Rafael Ortega seems to have found a home at the top of the Cubs batting order, he’s there again tonight playing center. Willson Contreras is batting second catching, David Bote follows playing second, Patrick Wisdom bats cleanup playing third, and Ian Happ is in left batting fifth. Recent call-up, Frank Schwindel is batting sixth playing first, followed by Jason Heyward in right, and Andrew Romine playing short.
Zach Davies continued his up and down season in his last outing, taking the loss after getting tagged for four earned runs over six innings against the Reds. He’ll look to bounce back tonight, although Coors Field may not be the best location to bounce back at. With that said, he’ll probably go out and dominate now just because I said he wouldn’t.
Game time is 7:40pm Central and it can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 679 The Score.
