Top Prospect Brennen Davis Promoted to AAA Iowa
After tearing up Double-A and bursting onto the national scene with two homers in the Futures Game to earn MVP honors, Brennen Davis proved he was more than ready for the next level. Davis slashed .252/.367/.474 with 13 homers and 36 RBI over 266 at-bats for the Smokies, but those numbers look much better when you see that he was at .175/.327.250 with no homers or RBI through 40 ABs.

The top-ranked prospect in the Cubs system by nearly every account, Davis has ascended into the top 20 on several overall lists as a result of his strong play this season. A second-round pick in 2018 our of Basha High School in Chandler, AZ, Davis starred in both basketball and baseball and only focused on the latter when he decided to forego college.
I can confirm that the Cubs are calling up top prospect Brennen Davis to Triple-A Iowa. Davis is expected to join the team in Omaha.

That appears to have been a good decision, as his superior athleticism has allowed him to move quickly through the system as his hitting develops. It’s not at all unreasonable to believe Davis will be fighting for a roster spot in Chicago during spring training and it’s almost inevitable that he’ll at least be up with the team for a cup of coffee at some point next season.
