Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/21/22): Madrigal Leads Off, Wisdom Cleans Up, Thompson Starting

Keegan Thompson will be on the mound as the Cubs take on the Reds from Sloan Park Monday afternoon with a three-game non-losing streak on the line. Thompson showed flashes of brilliance last season over 32 appearances for the Cubs, six of which were starts, but he’ll need to cut down on the walks to be successful on a bigger scale.

Nick Madrigal makes his Cubs debut as the leadoff hitter and second baseman, followed by Willson Contreras behind the plate and Jason Heyward in center. Patrick Wisdom is at third base, Alfonso Rivas is at first, and Michael Hermosillo is in left. Brennen Davis handles right field, Narciso Crook is the DH, and Sergio Alcántara is the shortstop.

First pitch is set for 3:05pm CT and you can watch on Marquee Sports Network.

As a note, these lineup posts will be much more robust once the regular season starts and the situation has solidified. We’ll include scouting reports on the opposing pitchers and notes about individual members of the lineup, plus other nuggets about the team in general.
