Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/21/22): Swarmer on Hill, Contreras Catching, Happ DH
The Chicago Cubs had a much more difficult time on Monday evening against the Pirates than even the most pessimistic fan could’ve expected. Much of that had to do with the hole that Caleb Kilian dug for the team early on due to poor control and questionable defense.
Matt Swarmer gets the ball tonight in the second game of this four-game set, hoping to bounce back from his last two outings that saw him struggle with both the long ball and his control. It’s not easy to predict a path for any young hurler these days, but that’s even more so for this Cubs team that frequently struggles on the defensive side.
Christopher Morel will lead off and play center tonight, followed by Willson Contreras catching, Ian Happ at DH, Patrick Wisdom at third, and Rafael Ortega in left. Nico Hoerner is playing short, Jason Heyward is in right, Andrelton Simmons is at second, and Alfonso Rivas is at first.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm CT in Pittsburgh. The game will be broadcast on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
