Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/26/22): Mills on the Hill, Morel in Center, Bote at Second as Cubs Look For Series Win
With a win today, the Chicago Cubs can take the series from the St. Louis Cardinals. Of course, that could’ve already been the case had the Cubs’ bullpen not blown what was a very good outing from Adrian Sampson on Saturday.
Alec Mills will get his first start of the season today for the Cubs. To get the win, he’ll need to be better than he’s been since coming off the IL earlier this month. Mills is sporting an ERA of 8.59 and his 35.2% GB% is the lowest of his career by a wide margin. His 5.12 xFIP tells us there’s plenty of room for improvement from him if the defense behind him can pick up the slack
Christopher Morel is leading off for the Cubs today playing center, Rafael Ortega is in right, Willson Contreras is DH, Ian Happ is in left, and Patrick Wisdom is at third. Nico Hoerner is at short, Yan Gomes is catching, Alfonso Rivas is at first, and David Bote is at second.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:15pm CT and the game will be broadcast on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
