Chicago Cubs Lineup (7/2/22): Mills on the Hill, Crook in Right, Morel at Second
The Chicago Cubs took down the Boston Red Sox on Friday after being down four runs early. It was exactly the type of comeback win the Cubs needed and it also extended their winning streak to three games. With a win today, the Cubs can take the series. That would be the Cubs’ third series win out of the last four series.
Alec Mills (0-1, 9.87 ERA) will take the mound for the Cubs today, looking to extend their winning streak to four games. Mills has had a rough start to his season since coming off the IL in early June. He’s been giving up a lot of hard contact and has also seen much fewer ground balls (34.8%) than over his career (48.6%). That’s bound to get corrected and you can rest assured that the Cubs are well aware and focused on getting Mills back on the right track. Let’s hope that starts today.
Rafael Ortega is batting leadoff tonight playing center, Willson Contreras is DH, Ian Happ is in left, Patrick Wisdom is at third, and Nico Hoerner is at short. Yan Gomes is catching, Narciso Crook is in right, Alfonso Rivas is at first, and Christopher Morel is at second.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:15pm CT. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX and can be heard locally on 670 The Score.
