Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/10/22): Steele Pitching, Reyes DH, McKinstry at Third as Cubs Seek Series Win
The Chicago Cubs lost a close one Tuesday night due to three home runs by the Nationals. They have a chance to get the series win, however, with a victory today.
Justin Steele (4-7, 3.67 ERA) will be on the hill for the Cubs today, and he’s been as good or better than anyone could’ve hoped for so far this season. Since the All-Star break, Steele has allowed just one earned run over 13.1 innings. In his last start, he struck out 10 and walked just one. What we haven’t seen much lately is an ability to last beyond the 5th inning. If he can put together a strong outing and get into the 6th inning, the Cubs should be able to get the win today.
Rafael Ortega has just three multi-hit games since June 22 and yet he’ll leadoff once again for the Cubs today playing center. Ian Happ is playing left, Franmil Reyes is DH, Seiya Suzuki is in right, and Nico Hoerner is at short. Zach McKinstry, who had three hits on Tuesday including his first as a Cub, is playing third, Yan Gomes is catching, P.J. Higgins is at first, and Nick Madrigal is at second.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:20pm CT. The game will be broadcast on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
