Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/15/22): Stroman Pitching, Madrigal Leading Off, Reyes DH
The Chicago Cubs (47-66) have won their last three series and are looking to make it four in a row if they can beat a struggling Washington Nationals (38-78) team. They took two of three against the Nationals just last week with the one loss coming by one run in a game they really could have and should have won. A sweep by the Cubs in this series is not at all out of the question.
Marcus Stroman (3-5, 4.20 ERA) will start tonight and he’s looking to bounce back from his last outing which also happens to be the loss to the Nationals last week. In that game, Stroman gave up two home runs to Keibert Ruiz which accounted for all four runs scored against him in that game. Hopefully, Stroman is able to keep the ball in the yard tonight in DC.
Nick Madrigal is batting leadoff and playing second tonight, Willson Contreras is catching, Ian Happ is playing left, and Seiya Suzuki, who’s looking to break out of a slump, is playing right.
Franmil Reyes has been a pleasant surprise since being picked up off waivers by the Cubs back on August 8. He’s batting .353 with a .941 OPS which includes a home run and a double since joining the Cubs. Reyes is DH batting fifth tonight, followed by Nico Hoerner playing short, Zach McKinstry at third, Patrick Wisdom at first, and Christopher Morel in center.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm CT. The game will be broadcast on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
