Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/21/22): Red-Hot Cubs Look for Sweep with Steele on Hill
The Cubs are playing extremely well and it’s not just an anomaly. They’ve won five straight games, five consecutive series, and are 17-10 since the All-Star break. Their 2.96 team ERA is second best over that same time frame to only the Dodgers. Oh, and they’re one win away from a very unlikely sweep of the Brewers.
Justin Steele (4-7, 3.43 ERA) has quickly become a guy you want on the bump in a game you really hope to win. He hasn’t given up more than three earned runs since June 23. Over his last eight games he has a 1.67 ERA and that’s with .336 BABIP (league average for pitchers is right around .300). Over that same stretch he has 50 strikeouts and just 16 walks over 43.0 innings pitched. That’s scary-good stuff.
Nick Madrigal is leading off and playing second, Nico Hoerner is at short, Ian Happ is in left, Seiya Suzuki is in right, and Franmil Reyes is DH. Rafael Ortega is in center, Yan Gomes is catching, P.J.Higgins is at first, and Christopher Morel is at third.
First pitch today is scheduled for 1:20pm CT at what is sure to be a very raucous Wrigley Field.
