Chicago Cubs Lineup (9/7/22): Madrigal Leading Off, Reyes Batting Cleanup, Assad on Bump Looking for First Win
The Chicago Cubs blew out the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night largely due to the extraordinary debut of Hayden Wesneski. The Cubs will be looking to win the series with a victory tonight over the Reds.
Javier Assad is another recent call-up for the Cubs that’s been performing very well. In three appearances, including two starts, he has given up just one earned run on ten hits while striking out six and walking six. Assad is a relatively soft-tosser by today’s standards, topping out around 93 mph. But his impressive pitch mix includes a change, cutter, sinker, four-seamer, slider, and curve. So, yeah, he keeps batters guessing.
Nick Madrigal leads off and plays second tonight, Seiya Suzuki is in right, Ian Happ is in left, Franmil Reyes is DH, and Nico Hoerner is at short. Nelson Velazquez is in center, Yan Gomes is catching, P.J. Higgins is at first, and Christopher Morel is at third.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm CT from beautiful and historic Wrigley Field.
