Bote, Reyes Outrighted as Cubs Make Multiple 40-Man Roster Moves
This year’s Rule 5 Draft is set to take place on Wednesday, December 7. The deadline for teams to finalize their 40-man roster in advance of the Rule 5 Draft is November 15. The Cubs have been managing their 40-man roster crunch all season but eventually were going to have to make final moves to get the roster set for the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. Not to mention, today is also the deadline for MLB teams to reinstate players off the 60-day IL.
And boy, were there a lot of moves made today.
INF David Bote, LHP Steven Brault, OF Narciso Crook, RHP Anderson Espinoza and OF/DH Franmil Reyes cleared waivers and were outrighted to @IowaCubs.
The Cubs 40-man roster remains at 36 players.

These moves put the Cubs’ 40-man roster at 36, which clears room for at least four more minor league players to be protected. Of course, there are likely to be more moves made prior to next Wednesday, not the least of which will be the Cubs releasing Jason Heyward. Stay tuned.
