Cubs Announce 10 More Signings from 2023 Draft
The Cubs announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terms with 10 more players from the 2023 MLB Draft, including third-rounder Josh Rivera and fourth-round selection Will Sanders. You can read more about those two in our breakdown of Day 2 of the draft. The Cubs have now agreed to terms with nine of their first 10 selections and 17 of 20 overall.
The Cubs also agreed to terms with infielders Yahil Melendez (seventh round), Carter Trice (12th round) and Drew Bowser (20th round), right-handed pitchers Grayson Moore (14th round), Ty Johnson (15th round) and Nick Dean (19th round) and left-handed pitchers Daniel Brown (16th round) and Ethan Flanagan (17th round).
The only picks that remain unsigned are second-rounder Jaxon Wiggins, 11th-rounder Zyhir Hope, and 13th-rounder Sam Armstrong. Hope has said he will forego his college commitment to UNC in order to sign with the Cubs, so it’s just a matter of settling on the right figure. Wiggins is another who will need a little more than the $1.1 million value assigned to his pick, but that should be worked out soon.
Update: Jim Callis reported that Hope has signed, with the details now included below.
