Cubs Activate Dansby Swanson, Option Miles Mastrobuoni and Pete Crow-Armstrong

So much for my dumb logic. It appears Nico Hoerner will avoid the IL after all, as the Cubs’ transactions page reveals that Miles Mastrobuoni and Pete Crow-Armstrong have been optioned to Triple-A. Dansby Swanson has been activated from the IL as well.

Newly promoted Luis Vázquez, who is mired in an offensive funk right now, will probably play second for a while as the Cubs deploy Hoerner as the DH in order to protect his hamstring. That puts the squeeze on the outfield because Mike Tauchman had been DH’ing a lot. Still, I think a lot of folks will agree that PCA has offers more upside than Nick Madrigal. Whatever they end up doing, let’s just hope they start scoring some freaking runs.
