Brennen Davis Suffers Fractured Back, Expected to Miss Significant Time

Brennen Davis is snakebit. As first reported by Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register, the latest in a litany of injuries suffered by the former top prospect is a fractured back that is expected to keep him out for a significant period of time. The Cubs have not offered a timeline for his recovery, but it’s possible Davis will miss the rest of the season and could effectively be done as a member of the organization.

That really sucks because he isn’t just a promising baseball player, he’s a really good dude whose baseball journey has been way too crooked. He won’t turn 25 until November, though, so youth is still on his side when it comes to having another shot to put the injuries behind him. I really hope he’s able to do that, even if it’s not with the Cubs.
