Chicago Cubs Lineup (7/22/24): Tauchman DH, Mastrobuoni 3B, Assad Starting
The Cubs are hosting the Brewers in what could finally be a make-or-break series. The NL is so mid on the whole that the Cubs keep managing to brush each new shovel of dirt from their coffin, but dropping another two of three here might leave them buried for good. Milwaukee only has so much luck left though, so who knows.
Javier Assad is back on the bump for the second time since returning from a forearm issue, and he’ll need to be better than his last time out lest this series get off to a rough start. His counterpart is Tobias Myers, who has already faced the Cubs twice this season and is 0-1 with seven earned runs allowed over nine innings.
Myers has gotten decent results despite pedestrian metrics, so the Cubs should be able to score a few more times tonight. Of course, that’s been the case with a whole bunch of other okay-ish pitchers this year. Due to extenuating circumstances, the lineup card below will have to suffice.
First pitch is at 7:05pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score.
Here is tonight’s #Cubs starting lineup for the series opener against Milwaukee!
