Miller appeared in 48 games during the 2025 season, posting a 2.74 ERA and a 35.8 percent chase rate. He was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Brewers at the trade deadline but had to undergo Tommy John surgery in September.
When healthy, Miller has shown a great deal of potential. He was fantastic in 2023 with the Dodgers, although his stint with the Tigers in 2024 was not ideal. Nonetheless, the metrics from his 46.0 innings in 2025 were very impressive, making this a high-upside deal for when he returns to the mound.
Because he underwent surgery in September, the odds of him pitching for the 2026 Cubs are extremely low. That is the reasoning behind this being a multi-year deal. The Cubs and their pitching lab are able to keep Miller in the organization while he rehabs, with the goal of having him on the roster in 2027, if baseball is played that year.
More to come…
