We got our first look at Jason Heyward’s rebranded swing Saturday afternoon when he led off for the Cubs against the A’s at Sloan Park. It’s only a fake game in February, so you can’t put much stock in it, but the results were…underwhelming.
The hands start out much lower and farther from his body, but the overall swing path appears largely unchanged. A pop to center a grounder to second also conjured images of last season. Again, though, it’s very early and two at-bats do not tell the story.
