The Chicago Cubs just clinched their second straight NL Central. Excuse me, the *ahem* defending World Series champs just clinched their second straight NL Central.
Despite the inconsistencies this year, what would you say if I told you that this current iteration of the Cubs offense is better than last year’s version? Sounds crazy, right?
Maybe it’s not asinine, though. The Cubs have scored 805 runs this year, whereas the World Series champs squad scored 808 runs. That means the 2017 northsiders will score more runs than the team that won it all in 2016.
