Starling Marte hit a game-tying home run off Pedro Strop to erase the Cubs 3-0 lead in the top of the 8th inning, but the Cubs offense was not about to let this game slip away. Kris Bryant walked to start the inning, advanced to second on a walk to Victor Caratini, and then showed off his blazing speed by scoring on an opposite field single by Jason Heyward. Heyward was 2-4 on the day, and made some great plays in the outfield as well. Craig Kimbrel came on for the 9th and worked a 1-2-3 inning to give the Cubs a W to start the second half.
