Watch: Yu Darvish, Craig Kimbrel Throw Live BP Monday

Below are a series of Twitter videos from beat reporters out in Mesa that capture the live BP sessions thrown by Yu Darvish and Craig Kimbrel on Monday morning. Sorry to those of you viewing on a work connection that blocks social media, but Marquee’s rollout should have prepared you for the inability to watch Cubs content.

Not that you’d be missing anything spectacular, since there’s only so much you can glean from these situations. I will say, however, that this Darvish breaking ball to Kyle Schwarber looks really good.

And here’s the big righty facing Jason Heyward.

This is the first we’ve seen Kimbrel in action and, while we obviously don’t have radar readings, the closer looks explosive. After what felt like some over-explanation of his cautious ramp-up period, it’s good to see him out there throwing at what appears to be full effort.

In another positive development, David Ross was out there to observe the sessions. He’s missing Monday’s game due to continuing flu-like symptoms, but he might have given it a go if the Cubs were playing a home game. Expect Manager David to be back in the dugout by Tuesday.

On another positive note, Brandon Morrow is feeling better and may start playing catch Tuesday after being shut down with what the Cubs were calling a “mild right upper chest strain.” It would be nice to go a full week without a report on Morrow’s questionable health.
