MLB Pipeline’s Updated Top 30 Cubs Prospects Just Dropped

MLB Pipeline just updated its list of the top 30 Cubs prospects and the names have been shuffled around a bit. Jim Callis has a write-up on the rankings that includes notes on the biggest movers and best tools, so take a look at that when you have a chance. One big takeaway is that 19 of these players have an ETA of either this season (11) or next (8), meaning the Cubs have reached an inflection point and are no longer waiting on youngsters in the low levels of the system.

It’s also good to see that five of the top 10 prospects and 15 of 30 are pitchers. Two of those from the upper tiers were acquired via trade and three were drafted, which is exactly the kind of balance you want to see in terms of evaluation and development. I’d recommend checking out the links above to get the full rankings and additional context, but I’ll list some players here.
